Meet the Team

Amy Abbett

I am a San Francisco native; attending high school at The Branson School, I fell in love with writing and the power of storytelling. I went to Middlebury College and played 4 years of varsity soccer, serving as captain for my junior and senior seasons. I majored in English, graduating magna cum laude in 2013. I earned my masters from Stanford University and my CA teaching credential in 2014, focusing on secondary English education. I have a 10 years of teaching experience in both the Bay Area and Chicago. I have taught all levels of 9th-12th grade English; my favorite unit every year was teaching personal statement writing to my juniors!

When I’m not working with students, you can find me playing with my two young daughters or walking my dog Sebastian on the Tiburon bike path.

Elizabeth Mathiot

With 15 years of experience as a licensed educator, I specialize in transforming complex concepts into "lightbulb moments" for my students. I hold a Master’s in Secondary Teaching and have spent over a decade helping students navigate the rigors of middle and high school STEM.

My background is rooted in the sciences, but my focus is on the whole student. My experience includes:

  • Science Specialist: 13 years teaching Middle School Science, as well as High School Chemistry and Biology.

  • College & Career Readiness: As an AVID instructor, I coach students in essential "soft skills" like public speaking, academic writing, and strategic study habits.

  • Targeted Tutoring: Extensive experience providing 1-on-1 support in Middle School Math and Science to bridge learning gaps and build confidence.
